![]() Heroes of Might and Magic V was developed for Ubisoft by European game-maker Nival Interactive, the creator of successful tactical combat computer games such as Blitzkrieg, Etherlords, and Silent Storm. ![]() While influenced by the series’ mythology, the game’s setting and story line were created anew, for this (and possible future) Might and Magic releases. In online games, players can make use of ghost characters to spy and steal resources as their opponents take their turns. The interface has been rebuilt to be more intuitive and accessible, while still offering sophisticated control. The most immediately noticeable improvement over earlier games in the series come through Heroes of Might and Magic V’s 3D graphics, but other enhancements have been made as well. Blitzkrieg (German, 'lightning war') is 'a headline word applied retrospectively to describe a military doctrine of an all-mechanized force concentrating its attack on a small section of the enemy front then, once the latter is pierced, proceeding without regard to its flank. ![]() Elements of empire building, such as exploration and economy, play their roles in this game, but its greatest conflicts are ultimately resolved on the battlefield, through sophisticated turn-based combat similar that of a traditional console tactical RPG, but fought between large battalions that may each contain numerous different units. In Heroes of Might and Magic V, players are challenged to conquer a land of fantasy, using both wits and warfare.
